Wrestlemania Preview

Chris Jericho vs Edge (C) vs Antonio Cesaro vs Dolph Ziggler
Intercontinental Title Match

The Intercontinental Championship was owned by Dolph Ziggler, who was tired of fighting jobbers. He was finally defeated on Raw by Edge, but Edge’s celebration was short lived when Antonio Cesaro came to the ring. Cesaro declared he should have been given a title shot but Chris Jericho, who Cesaro had been feuding with, got involved as well. During a tag team match, Jericho walked out on his partner Edge, leaving some bad blood between the two.

John Cena vs Shawn Michaels
World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contenders Match

The match-up between Cena and Michaels was a spur of the moment match. Commissioner Roose wanted a number-one contender for the World Heavyweight title and created a mini tournament this past Thursday on Smackdown. After Michaels beat the Godfather and Cena beat Randy Orton, the two will face off in a Wrestlemania XXIII re-match, this time for a shot to face the World Heavyweight champ.

Justin Gabriel (C) vs X Pac vs The Miz
US Title Match, Ladder Match

X Pac and Miz feuded leading into this match, both feeling they deserved to have a crack at Justin Gabriel. Gabriel has been tested over and over again with his US belt, proving he is a great champion. Roose wanted another triple threat match, but Gabriel demanded he set the stipulations of the match. He called for a ladder match, thinking he had an advantage. Will Gabriel use his speed and agility to retain his belts or will X Pac or Miz become the new champ?

Jack Swagger vs Albert Del Rio

Jack Swagger won the Royal Rumble and was destined for a WWE title match until he ran into the APA, who put him on the shelf. After a tip, Swagger found out that Alberto Del Rio, who in the interim got a WWE title shot, was behind the attacks. Following a match with R-Truth, Swagger called out Del Rio for a match with Wrestlemania and then attacked Del Rio during his match with Brock Lesnar, attempting to put him on the shelf.

Team Hell No vs Team USA vs Kofi Kingston/Rey Mysterio vs Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection
Tag Team Title Match

Two title matches were finished by DQ, leaving the titles still in limbo. Commissioners Real Deal and Roose came together and had an idea: a four way elimination tag team match, which will guarantee a victor. Real Deal declared that Hell No would automatically be entered and the new Team USA (Angle/Henry) won a mini tournament to be entered as well. Roose promised Mankind that he could have a team in the match (teaming with old friend the Rock). Kofi & Rey complained that they should be added as well, and they were the final team entered.

Wade Barrett vs Sheamus (C)
World Heavyeight Title Match

Barrett and Sheamus began their feud after the Elimination Chamber. Sheamus hand-picked Barrett to make an example out of him and Roose wound up granting Barrett a chance at the title. Barrett earned it by beating Sheamus and that set up the feud heading into  Wrestlemania. In a battle between England and Ireland, who will win this classic European show down: the Bareknuckle Brawler or the Celtic Warrior?

Trish Stratus (C) vs AJ Lee
Diva’s Title Match

Stratus was obligated to defend her belt at Wrestlemania. Roose felt that AJ deserved a title shot and he granted it to her. So while these two ladies battle it out, take a pee break, grab some beer and pop corn, and enjoy the following match.

Brock Lesnar vs Big Show
Brock Lesnar was a beast in the Elimination Chamber until he unknowingly turned into a Big Show KO punch. While Show thought it was a legit way to eliminate Lesnar, Lesnar thought it was a cheap shot and attacked the world’s largest athlete during a match. Lesnar continued to taunt Big Show until Show was given a match with him at Wrestlemania.

Triple H vs The Undertaker
Last Man Standing

Undertaker cost Triple H his World Heavyweight title back at the Elimination Chamber after losing the belt at the Rumble. He proceeded to attack Triple H, harass him and bully him into another Wrestlemania moment. Undertaker told Triple H he wants to make sure he never walks again, challenging him to a Last Man Standing Match. Triple H accepted his fate. On the last week of Smackdown, Undertaker came from under the ring and pulled Triple H to hell with him.

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs CM Punk (C)
WWE Title Match
The two squared off at the Royal Rumble for the title, and while Punk earned Austin’s respect, he still owned the gold that Stone Cold wanted. Austin had to fight through an Elimination Chamber match to earn the rematch. After warmup matches for each competitor, it seems like the two are prepared to deliver on the grandest stage of them all.
